French line infantry drummer habit (coat) 1801-1812
French line infantry drummer/bugler habit, the photos show a reconstruction of the 18th line regiment, after a Bouquoy plate. Made of blue broadcloth, with crimson cuffs, lapels and collar piped with the same, blue cuff flaps, crimson red serge lining in the body and tails, linen lining for the back and sleeves, brass buttons with regimental number 18 (other regiments can also be had, please enquire), turnback company devices of cut-out cloth (grenades, bugle-horns, stars like here or regimental numbers). Profusely trimmed with livery lace of tricolour triangles all around.
The last pictures show original extant drummer habits preserved in the Borodino museum, with red zig-zag livery lace as chevrons on the sleeves as well. The so-called "nids d'hirondelles" were apparently introduced in the French army around 1800 following Prussian and Austrian fashion, and lasted until 1812, a few regiments kept them even with the Imperial Livery habit-veste introuduced by the Bardin regulations.
The short-lived white habit of the 1806 regulations for drummers can also be replicated, as well as those worn by the foot artillery or sappers, just enquire!
Please specify in the notes which pattern and regiment you want to reconstruct.
Available in standard chest sizes and various heights, or made to measure (fill in the measure form in the last pic above).
